Newhaven

Built of concrete in 1967, this six-storey tower of 35 suites was condo converted in 1995 with a package of renovations that included opened kitchens, over-range microwave/hood fan combos and high-gloss white lacquer cabinetry; bright and easy to keep clean. All suites have an in-suite stacking laundry set and many suites seem to have been further upgraded since the developer left. I see hardwood flooring and fancier finishing in many of these homes.

The suites at Newhaven aren't large, with a third of them being a one-bedroom plan of about 597 square feet, while two thirds of the suites are two-bedroom plans, all on a corner, of about 821 square feet. The corner light from two directions and the open kitchen sure make these feel roomy. Some of the two-bedroom suites have been converted to one-bedroom-plus-den homes with French doors between the living area and the second bedroom; 'works well.

The building has a mix of assigned indoor parking and assigned surface stalls around back, with some of those stalls tucked under the building's overhang. In at least one case a main-floor suite has a long parking stall that accommodates two vehicles. There's room in common areas for all suites to have a storage locker in addition to some extra closet space within the suites. The basement also offers a small gym, a games room and a sauna. Newhaven always looks tidy and well run. Exterior windows and doors are common property. I have the Condo Plan on file.
