Manor House

Here's another of Calgary's early condo conversions, built in 1970 and condo converted in 1977 when the idea was new. The eight-storey concrete tower holds 40 suites with only a small basement for boiler room and mechanical functions. There's a single elevator and a small laundry room on each floor. Laundries were not installed in suites at conversion, although some suite owners will have added stacking sets without the dryer venting to outside, or the all-in-one laundry machines that don't require venting. Parking is all surface assigned stalls with several of them tucked under the building around back and on the east side.

There are no suites on the ground floor, then six suites per floor on the second through the seventh, and four larger corner suites on the eighth floor. One-bedroom homes here are 551 square feet, and most two-bedroom suites are 884 square feet. The four larger top-floor two-bedroom homes are each 1,163 square feet. Condo contributions in the building include in-suite electrical use plus the no-charge common laundries, but not savings for repair or future replacement of exterior windows and doors, as these were made each suite owner's responsibility in in 2001. I have the Condo Plan on file.
