Kai Towers becomes Oslo rental building
This two-tower condo development by Homburg-Centron Teamworks was cancelled in 2008 after work had begun. The development's name was a reference to the Kai Mortensen's furniture store that previously occupied the site. Oslo was to be the first tower to rise, and the second would have been called Copenhagen.
Late in 2010 work was about to begin on a single lower-rise and broader building as a rental property called Oslo, with the option of it becoming a condominium project in future. Homburg-Centron may find that the rental business has a longer horizon, but is a perfectly good business. At least this builder won't leave a gaping construction hole threatening the stability of neighbouring buildings, and our city will see an attractive completed project if not two gleaming high-rise condo towers.
