Hannon Richards Triplex

This startling modern 4.5-storey triplex condominium was completed early in 2006 by Chakra Dynamic Capital after being designed by Architect Richard Davignon, whose name I don't recognize, but you might. The building was written up in Canadian Architect magazine in April 2006 and won recognition in Calgary's 2005 Mayor's Urban Design Awards. It's no small feat to squeeze three sizeable homes and a three-car garage onto a 30' X 75' lot next to a back alley just behind Seventeenth Avenue, and make 'em look cool at that.

The resulting concrete structure starts with a main-level suite of 1,294 square feet that has below-grade office space with walk-out windows to the front and a large patio area out back. The second storey is the smallest home at 965 square feet and a small south-east balcony. The third home is the masterpiece, with 1,657 square feet taking up the entire third and fourth floors, connected by a spiral staircase, and with a nice roof-top deck atop the front of the building.

Finishing of these suites is entirely high-end with in-floor heating, hardwood floors, granite countertops and all kinds of stainless steel in the kitchens. If it's good enough for the Mayor, it's certainly good enough for me! Exterior windows and doors are common property. I have the Condo Plan on file.
