Cypriana Towers
This concrete building was erected in 1979 as a condominium, so it was never a rental building. At that time it had a party room just off the lobby, but at some point that became a resident caretaker's suite, so owners here have in-house cleaning services, which is a luxury. The builder was Kypros Properties Ltd.; likely a Greek or Cypriot fellow.
There are 34 homes at Cypriana Towers, all of them spacious two-bedroom suites, arrayed over six floors from the second up, as there are no suites other than the caretaker's on the ground floor. The smallest suite is 984 square feet, while the second floor has only four suites of up to 1,580 square feet, each with two balconies. Floors three through seven each house six suites with two-bedroom homes at the building's corners and a one-bedroom "inside" suite facing east and west. Every suite has a roomy balcony.
A lovely feature of this building is its enormous roof-top deck, open to all residents. Concrete paving stones cover most of the roof and a portion is developed with benches, a trellis, planter boxes and a barbecue. There are terrific views from here of downtown and Mount Royal to enjoy with friends and a beer on warm summer evenings. The building's parking is a mix of common-property assigned indoor stalls and outdoor stalls that are fenced off from the back alley. The hallways here could use redecorating, but I'm sure owners will get around to that when they can afford it. Some of the suites have been very nicely modernized, but I see a few that are still in original 1980s condition.
Exterior windows and doors at Cypriana Towers are common property. I have the Condo Plan on file.
