Skytower
Cancelled shortly after excavation started in the spring of 2006, this 30-storey tower had been sold out, but at prices so low that it couldn't be built with construction costs that had inflated quickly. The builder sold the project to Diamond Trust, of Quebec, which didn't get far in 2008 before also downing tools, this time in response to a weaker real estate market. By 2009 the site was a fenced-off excavation with foundation work complete beside the modern Brownstones office condominiums on Tenth Avenue, and just behind Imperial Lofts on Eleventh Avenue. The City then required the owner to maintain the site so that retaining walls stay up and no sloughing takes place.
In 2011 the project package was on the market, so the plans may yet revive some day, which would see 220 suites in the 30-storey tower with a three-storey podium clad in brick to connect visually with old warehouse buildings adjacent to it. The podium would house ground-level condominium retail space and condo offices on the second and third floors.
If the tower is eventually built as designed and approved by the City, I have all floor plans on file. The Condo Plan would be registered upon completion. Exterior windows and doors in this case would be common property.
